Salman Rushdie has been given knighthood. Henceforth, o thou servants of the queen, hail him Sir Rushdie!
People has reacted to the move. From very disturbing ones(which of course, the media was quick to pick up), to very timid ones(which, of course, did not make news).
Bloggers have responded. IndianMuslims has run a post.
Everybody’s talking about offence (here’s another good pen- Tamimi). However, there’s SPECULATION that Rushdie is being rewarded for lending support to the Afghan, and especially Iraq invasion, which most intellectuals did not.
