Patricia Dunn writes about what we shall call one aspect of ijtihad:
One of the most progressive, or should I say, Muslim, acts I observed all weekend was when during a session one participant in the conference got up from his seat, excused himself, and brought drinks to a group of people who were waiting outside. He didn’t know these people.
