Just like Rajiv Gandhi, who was assassinated when he had appeared to have become more mature, Benazir was also assassinated when she seemed to have learnt from her mistakes and was back to her homeland as a crusader for democracy.

A few months back (October 18th, 2007) Benazir Bhutto returned to Pakistan at the behest of a three way arrangement between herself, the hated dictator puppet Musharraf, and the United States. At the outset of this arrangement, it was clear that Bhutto would provide the democratic facade to the neo-colonial project of the US in Pakistan.

In the light of all these developments and facts, I personally find no concrete advantage Al-qaeda could gain since they don’t do politics in Pakistan. Also, one should not forget that it’s MUSHARRAF who is in war with talibans and Alqaeda at the moment NOT Benazir so naturally Mehsood & Co must be more busy to assassinate Musharraf than Benazir who was not in power. Even if it was done by Mehsood & CO then it’s quite clear those militants were used by any or one of beneficiaries mentioned above so I don’t buy any lame theory given by Govt to hide the sins.

I quickly want to touch upon the issue of Pakistan’s nuclear weapons and the fears that it may fall into the “wrong” hands. This is all nonsense. The nuclear weapons program is the most expensive investment that Pakistan has ever made. The country has put an amazing amount of time and effort into their program and they aren’t about to let it go anytime soon. I mean afterall, its a friggin nuclear weapons program. Pakistanis know what the hell nukes are. So they won’t readily allow non-state actors to just walk in and have their way with these weapons.

Benazir Bhutto w/o Zardari,

was a disastrous ‘misfit’ of Pakistani
society, and there are quite few of them.

She was functionning for her riches and
the riches and interests of USA & UK colonials.
and India.

3/4 of the third world is filled with such
category of the politicians.

There are special schools, colleges and
universities to train the generations of
feudals, Englofiles, children of domestics
of RAJ.

@ to political sience student,

I am sure nobody has to worry about the
safety of nukes , they are in hands of
professional qualified guardians, but you must remember, Musharraf’s straightforward warning
to any enemy, if attacked Pakistan would not rely on conventional war, he said that he will use “that” option immediatley, so enemies of
Pakistan beware of a dangerous pit bull on the
gates waiting for you if you intent to visit us !!!
