  1. It is performed in the Andalusian style of music (with an Andalusian orchestra). This is the music of the exile communities of Jews and Muslims that fled Spain after the Reconquista. Much of the North African Jewish communities are comprised of such people. They were historically known for their mercantile and artistic prowess. This music is the basis of a lot of North African music. This particular bit is by a Moroccan imam and rabbi, whose names escape me at the moment. It is about monotheism and illustrates the commonalities between Islam and Judaism. Israel has an Andalusian orchestra that performs songs similar to this. There is another style of North African music, pioneered by Algerians and some Tunisians and used also by Moroccans, called Chaabi (popular), which uses similar instruments and whose lyrics tend to have similar themes.
