This is your word for the day

Sunni Sister Umm Zaid manages to regularly come up with refreshing ideas to help us remember Allah:

“But I want to talk to you about a different “Word of the Day.” I have an idea (or idear, as they say in Boston). I want you (and me) to pick a word of dhikr and praise and make it our word of the day. Bismillah. Subhan’Allah. Alhamdulillah. Insha’Allah. Mash’Allah. Allahu Akbar. Bi ithni’llah.

Pick a word and make it your word of the day. Resolve to be more conscious of situations where you can use it. Resolve to reflect upon its meaning when you utter it. For example, a lot of us say “Subhan’Allah” in a variety of situations: disappointment, wonder, disgust at something, shaking our head at something, receiving a gift, becoming angry, and so forth. It kind of rolls off the tongue and, for many, may have replaced more (ahem) colorful words in their vocabs.”
