Al Mahabba Awards for Islamic Art

Assalamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullah

My name is Teakster and I have been made the new Islamic arts editor. I not sure how this occurred but personally blame the milkshake they tricked me into drinking. Next thing I know, I had signed away a part of my life.

I am a bit of cowboy artist as I like to make pretty pictures, so society has labelled me an “artist”. I will be highlighting a different piece of Islamic Art/Photography each week, in order to promote the work of Muslim artists, plus any big art events.

Speaking of events……currently in Abu Dhabi is the 2008 Al Mahabba Awards.

Al Mahabba Awards is an annual event that is held to promote and reward artistic expressions of love for the Prophet Mohammed, Peace be upon Him.

For more information, watch the inspiring video above, and check out the Mahabba Awards website.

  1. I love this video, because it makes me love the Prophet Muhammad, sallalahu ‘alayhi wa salam, even more! *sniffle*

Btw, the incredibly modest Mr Teakster failed to mention that he is in fact a finalist in the Graphics Art section of this contest, masha’Allah! May Allah grant him, and his fellow finalists success, and reward them for their love of the Prophet, sallalahu ‘alayhi wa salam.

  2. Salaam br. Teakstar and welcome aboard! The Mahabba video is, Mash’Allah, wonderfully made!

And congratulations for being chosen finalist. Best of luck for the finals, too!

May Allah accept your efforts, and reward you here and hereafter.

  3. Congrats on being chosen a finalist!

Please check out the work of the infamous Islamic artist, Dr. Ezzat Abouleish, M.D. at http://www.ezzat2007.spaces.live.com.

He just published two new books displaying some of his art work ranging from Arabic calligraphy oil paintings of the 99 names of God to pencil stencils of Mosques.

    It’s quite remarkable.

Would love to hear what you think.
