Six million. *Million.* Pray that the title of this post never has the chance to not be a bit of drama, in the face of atrocities that are not in need of such dramatizing.
What a stupid post by M. Landers. The person is measuring the definition of atrocities by the numbers of people killed. Typical response from an ignorant idiot. So if someone busted into his/her home and killed the entire family, we should dismiss any reactions as a “teeny weeny bit of Drama”.
The Zionist, IDF and their supporters need to realize that the terms Holocaust, Labor camps, ghettos, etc. are no longer exclusive to their stuggles… especially since they are now the biggest perpetrators of crimes against humanity and genocide. Long live the Intifada.
Actually mr Landers is quite right. Gaza is/was not holocaust.
However I imagine, that addressing people as “ignorant idiot” might call for some reflection on how to represent ones views when you disagree. But bashers usually have weak arguments which is why they bash their opponents.
If gaza was holocaust, we might as call every killing be that of one person or 1400 or millions holocaust. Number uis not the issue but understanding the term holocaust is. This eagerness to call gaza holocaust simply shows that you have no knowledge of the historical or political knowledge of what holocaust means. What about Dafur? Bosnia? Kashmir? Somalia? Sudan? Why are people not calling that holocaust?

Solutions or awareness does not come through falsehood and exagerations.
Gaza is a political conflict which has continued for 60 years because politicans on both side are hesitant to take action. We only get silence and empty promises. People on both sides want peace. But then you have extremists who don’t.
I can only hope 2009 will bring peace to all.

There is more than ample evidence that Palestine involving Zionist atrocities is certainly if not a form precisely is still a Holocaust, and calling it Apartheid does not do it justice.
The historic Zionist story is of their sacrifice even of Jewish during the Hitler era, enabling a secular group called Zionists to form their little Empire (they) named Israel, admittedly with the help of man (implication sufficient).

I agree that one should not generalize and one should not judge all jews as being zionists. Even many jews do not support the state of Israel. But to call what happened in Gaza a holocaust is mocking the actual holocaust of WWII, Darfur or Bosnia.
I have no doubt that Israel is not friend of Gaza. The reverse is also true. Hamas have in their polictical chapters stated they wish to eliminate all jews. That would be a holocaust.
What happened in Gaza is the result of a polictical egobased warfare. The assault was unwarrented and uncalled for. Wrong and unfair. Yes. But it was not and never will be holocaust. The fact that over 1 million arabs (non jews) reside withint the borders of Israel is a testament to that. Yes their rights could be improved but the same goes for the daily persecution of muslim or non-muslim minorities in Muslim countries.
So it is not holocaust in any shape or form. And Holocaust is by no means restricted to jews only. But this is not Holocaust. You forget the key fundamentals of Holocaust and the premises underying it.
By making something worse than it is, will not help either party. I fail to see the potential of dialogue or even peace reslutions in light of such gross and illegitimate exaggeration.
The Palestinians have brought this one themselves. They would rather raise their children to blow people up than to train them to be DR’s and Lawyers and Social Workers. Until they value the life of their children over the death of Jews, they will never rise up and be the great people that should be and bless the nations with their culture. Very Sad.
The Palestinians have brought this on themselves. They would rather raise their children to kill Jews than raise them to be Artists, Poets, Dr’s, & Scientists. Until they value the life of their children over everything else, the world will be denied the gift of the their culture and we will be poorer for it. The Palestinians need politicians who will negotiate for peace and work toward building trust, instead of sowing violence. There would be no GAZA war if they did not fire over 5,000 rockets into Israel.
